DICE doesn't want to charge for Bad Company 2 maps, EA declines comment

DICE doesn't want to charge for DLC maps for the game.

One of DICE’s producers has announced that the developer doesn’t "ever" want to charge fans of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 for any DLC maps.

"We don’t ever want to charge for our maps and insisted to EA that this attitude was crucial when it came to keeping our community happy and playing together," said senior producer Patrick Bach in an interview with Xbox World 360 Magazine, according to CVG.

The statement comes shortly after Infinity Ward released its Stimulus Map Pack for Modern Warfare 2 yesterday at 1200 Microsoft Points. DICE released its VIP 2 Map Pack yesterday as well for no cost.

Joystiq followed up on CVG’s report and contacted DICE regarding the story. They received a statement from a representative saying, "Unless they aren’t standard maps we won’t charge and there aren’t any in the plan that would cost."

EA did not want to comment on the situation when Joystiq contacted them, saying in response, "We can’t comment on the future. But we’ll have more details on our DLC plans shortly."
