B of A says price cut won't help PS3 sales

psecutAs far back as we can remember it seems that two phrases have always followed the PS3: "It’s too expensive" and "Lower the price." Bank of America, for one, doesn’t think that cutting back the price of the PS3 will do any good to help Sony.

Michael Savner of B of A said:

"Despite growing anticipation that a $100 price cut for the PS3 is imminent this summer or early fall, we do not believe such a move would meaningfully improve stagnant PS3 sales…"

Savner believes that if Sony were to offer a price reduction of only $50, that it would be "meaningless." At this point in the game, he says that Sony needs to have at least a $200 reduction to make up for all the lost ground it has incurred with the high price of the unit (which currently stands at $599 for the 60GB model).

A $200 price reduction? Don’t hold your breath.
