360's Warranty Extended to 365 Days

Microsoft today announced an extended warranty for the Xbox 360 console, bringing the covered period from the previous 90 days to one full year. Therefore, any Xbox 360 purchased in either the U.S. or Canada, both in the future and those purchased in the past year will be covered by the warranty. Consumers who have already paid for 360 repairs will be reimbursed for their console repair charges, and can expect a check within 10 weeks. Gamers should note that this warranty only applies to the hardware and software for Xbox 360 console itself; extra accessories are not covered by the new one year warranty.

Microsoft exec Jeff Bell said, "Our number one priority for the Xbox 360 is customer satisfaction. Now, in addition to Xbox 360 offering features such as jaw-dropping high definition graphics, an amazing variety of more than 160 games, and social online and entertainment experiences found on Xbox Live, this warranty upgrade is an exclamation at the end of an already compelling home entertainment offering."

Since the launch of the 360 in last November, countless reports of faulty hardware have flooded the internet. Back in September, Microsoft released few details regarding a refund to a small group of customers who purchased a console during 2005. But despite that, there still has been no stop to the flow of problematic reports. Hopefully this is the rightful conclusion to these lingering problems.
