A Coffee Table Book On Video Games

A new gaming enthusiast book is due out this fall entitled “Game On!: From Pong to Oblivion: The Greatest Games of All Time,” published by Headline Books and written and compiled by Simon Byron and Ste Curran-two experienced and respected professionals in the industry. Some may remember Simon from the obscure computer game television show “Gamesmaster” from the early 90s.

It,s no secret that the video game industry outsold cinema tickets and DVD sales combined in 2004. Why then are there so few actual publications centered on modern video games? Other than strategy guides and cheat code books, Byron and Curran,s book will be one of the few that contribute actual literature to the industry. “It stands to reason that Headline should be the first to recognise the yawning gap in the market and to cater to the needs of the fastest growing division in the entertainment industry,” said Headline,s UK Sales Director James Horobin.

The book will focus on the fifty greatest games of all time, recreating what made each title so great and giving key information on the development and success of each title. The book will also tell the reader where to find and play each game now, making Game On! a great gift.

Senior Commissioning Editor at Headline said, “Game On! is perfect-not only have we had considerable TV interest in doing a list show based around the concept, but it is an ideal indicator of what this list is all about: developing new markets with imaginative, contemporary and original titles.”
