Advent Children US Release in 2006?

Last September, Final Fantasy fans were extremely happy to see that a movie based on the wildly successful Final Fantasy VII released on DVD and UMD in Japan. The title was Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. The story takes place two years after the game's conclusion. Since then, the movie has sold hundreds of thousands of copies on both formats. A limited edition DVD of the movie was also released. Finally, there is a chance for the FF fans in the United States to enjoy the movie. A rumor is circulating Sony fan boards, stating that Sony was taking the first steps to getting the movie released in the US sometime before the end of 2006. The author of one the posts claims that "it's taking a little extra time to work with the director to get all the supplemental elements finished, but the title is on track for release sometime later this year." Mike Stradford, an executive at Sony's DVD division, is cited as the source of information. Advent Children has already made its way into theatres at the Venice Film Festival, Italy. Fans that could not wait for the US release have had to order imports, or download the movie (often illegally).
