Amazon's top 10 current U.S. best sellers

amazon.comAmazon released a list of the top 10 best selling games so far, conveniently breaking it down to each seperate format. What makes this news interesting is the list that includes all formats, from the Wii to the PSP and everything in between.

So was it that big of a surprise that the Nintendo Wii dominated the charts with six out of the ten games? I guess it wasn’t that big of a surprise seeing that the Wii’s popularity never seems to wane, but what was surprising is the fact that there is not one PC, PS3 or PSP game on the list. Lets take a look at which games made the list:

01. Super Smash Bros. Brawl*-Nintendo (Wii)
02. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare-Activision (Xbox 360)
03. Super Mario Galaxy-Nintendo (Wii)
04. Rock Band Special Edition-EA (Xbox 360)
05. Winter Sports: The Ultimate Challenge-Conspiracy (Wii)
06. Carnival Games-Global Star (Wii)
07. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games-Sega (Wii)
08. Guitar Hero III Bundle-Activision (Wii)
09. New Super Mario Bros.-Nintendo (DS)
10. Assassin’s Creed-Ubisoft (Xbox 360)

That’s a grand total of six Wii games, three Xbox 360 games and one Nintendo DS game. Is the PC losing major ground in sales? Is the Wii becoming more popular than the Nintendo DS here in the U.S.? Will the PSP and PS3 try to push one of their games in?

Microsoft’s push with Games for Windows has been an overall success, but with the growing amount of piracy that takes place over the internet, overall physical sales have dropped. The PS3 has been out for a little more than a year and their #1 games are still too few and far in between. The PSP has not been receiving as good as a response in the U.S. as it has been getting in Japan, but with upcoming games such as God of War II and FFVII: Crisis Core, that might very well change.
