American McGee's Grimm revealed

Today, American McGee (who has the best name ever) revealed plans for his next upcoming game. Titled American McGee’s Grimm, the game will be a "spiritual sequel" to his classic third-aliceperson action game American McGee’s Alice back in 2000. The game will be developed by McGee’s Spicy Horse company and will be distributed through GameTap.

The game, as made evident by the title, will be following the tales of the Brothers Grimm. Through the deal with GameTap, McGee will be commissioning 24 installments — an episodic series. The first episode is expected in the first half of 2008.

brothersGrimmR.J. Berg, who served as executive producer and head writer for Alice, will be returning for Grimm in the same roles. McGee stated, "I’m really happy to be once again working on twisted fairy tales. And I’m especially excited about having R.J. Berg involved with the project." The upcoming July issue of PC Gamer will have a scope of the game.

If Grimm captures what Alice successfully did with the wonderful atmosphere, the witty and dark plot and the zany level environments; it should be a pretty good game. It will also be a breath of fresh air from the less-than-successful games McGee has produced in the past. (I’m looking at you American McGee Presents: Bad Day L.A.)

It looks like GameTap will be continuing the episodic game route — it achieved quite a bit of success with Sam & Max: Season 1.
