Arm wrestling game recalled due to broken arms

armwrestlingIn a bit of ironic news, an arm wrestling arcade game is being recalled in Japan for, well, I can tell you it’s not for mechanical problems, accidental nudity or unintentional insults; it’s being recalled due to broken arms.

That’s right folks; an arm wrestling game is being recalled due to three reported cases of players breaking their arms.

Distributor Atlus Co. is removing all 150 Arm Spirit machines from Japanese arcades this week. Atlus spokeswoman Ayano Sakiyama said, "The machine isn’t that strong, much less so than a muscular man. Even women should be able to beat it. We think that maybe some players get overexcited and twist their arms in an unnatural way."

What a way to wreck the ego of those three players.

Check this out, in the game, you go through a variety of stages of arm-wrestling not just with people, but also animals. The 10 different levels include matches against a French maid, a drunken martial arts master and even a Chihuahua; the final level is against a professional wrestler.

See, the last level makes sense, but going up against a Chihuahua? That’s just hilarious. Also the arcade machine is apparently built on a pink industrial barrel, which you can see below.

You can rest easy though since Arm Spirit was only released in Japan and Atlus Co. has no intention releasing overseas. Even if they were thinking of going international, I highly doubt companies will pick it up now.
