"Big update" planned for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

stalkergunIn an interview with CVG, GSC Game Worlds’ Anton Bolshakov revealed future plans for their FPS S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl. The last patch for the game was back on May 10th (version 1.0003), but don’t fret since the next one will appear soon enough.

GSC is currently working on a "big update" for S.T.A.L.K.E.R., in which it’ll add a new game play mode called Freeplay. This mode will remove all story-based missions and tasks and will only include "the A-life driven ones, where the goal is to gain ranks, climb up in ranking…and become the best S.T.A.L.K.E.R. in the Zone."

In addition, GSC is working on getting the single player SDK out so fans can go crazy with creating modifications. There are some really good modifications out now, so with the SDK on its way, it can only get better. Also expect your share of various fixes, tweaks and upgrades to the game itself.

Last month, we mentioned that GSC is planning more games in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. franchise. Bolshakov mentioned to just stay tuned to E3 next month for more details.
