Bionic Commando returns

Bionic commandoIn the year 1988, I was 4 years old, but I still remember when my brother came home with Bionic Commando. The grappling hook opened up some awesome game play to the old side scroller, and an instant classic was born.

Ever since then, Bionic Commando has faded into the background where dead games reside.

But wait, BC lives! Capcom recently announced to GameSpot that a new Bionic Commando is under works that will be available to the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC (Sorry Wii users).

This time you can use your grappling hook in a 3D environment to not only swing around, but to grab enemies, or even chuck large objects at people.

This new rendition of Bionic Commando also takes a hard gritty turn in terms of storyline. They’ve added a dark back story to the main character, Nathan Spencer, slating him for a false conviction which leads to the death penalty.

On the day of his execution, a terrorist weapon is detonated in the heart of Ascension city sending the city into disarray. The same people who want him dead need his help, and set the renegade loose as their only hope for peace.

I can’t wait to get my hands on this one. It sounds like it has all the ingredients for a killer game: good publisher, a deep dark story, and unique game play.
