On Thursday, February 5th, the 11th annual Interactive Acheivement Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place, honoring the very best the videogame industry had to offer in 2007. Today, the finalists for those awards were announced, and a one game in particular was announced a whole bunch of times.
2K Boston’s Bioshock has been nominated for 12 awards this year – nearly half of all the honors in the entire ceremony. Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is right behind it, though, earning an almost-as-impressive 10 nominations.
Of course, it’s not how many awards a game is nominated for that really counts, but how many it wins. We have another three weeks to find out what those numbers will be, so for now, here’s a quick rundown of the categories in which Bioshock will be going for gold in Las Vegas:
Outstanding Achievement in Art Direction
Outstanding Character Performance
Outstanding Achievement in Story Development
Outstanding Achievement in Original Music Composition
Outstanding Achievement in Soundtrack
Outstanding Achievement in Sound Design
Outstanding Achievement in Game Design
Outstanding Innovation in Gaming
Action Game of the Year
Computer Game of the Year
Console Game of the Year
Overall Game of the Year
