BioWare confirms Dragon Age III: Inquisition

Dragon Age III

BioWare Executive Producer Mark Darrah announced Dragon Age III officially on the developer’s blog today.

In the blog, Darrah states that the next game in the series will be called Dragon Age III: Inquisition. He also goes on to explain a few other things regarding the upcoming title, such as the team working on the game.

“This game is being made by a lot of the same team that has been working on Dragon Age since Dragon Age: Origins,” he said. “It’s composed of both experienced BioWare veterans and talented new developers.”

Darrah also detailed the new graphics engine that BioWare is working on for Dragon Age III.

“We are working on a new engine which we believe will allow us to deliver a more expansive world, better visuals, more reactivity to player choices, and more customization,” he explained. “At PAX East, we talked about armor and followers… Yeah, that kind of customization. We’ve started with Frostbite 2 from DICE as a foundation to accomplish this.”

In a previous post at Kotaku, BioWare had fans vote in a survey on titles for the next game, with Inquisition being selected as the winner. Other possible names were “The Breach,” “Exarch,” “Inquisitor,” and “Apocrypha.”

Dragon Age III does not yet have a release date, but the fact that BioWare has taken fan feedback into consideration seems promising. Time will tell whether it results in a satisfying entry for the Dragon Age series.
