Vancouver’s gorgeous River Rock Casino Resort hosted the first annual CAEAA awards event Thursday, and the inaugural year set the bar at a respectable height for years of awards to come. The “Elans,” as the producers are hoping to have them colloquially called, are awarded to the creative teams behind Canadian-fueled commercial and student projects in animation, electronic media, and video games.
This year, the event was hosted by the venerable William Shatner, who is to Canada what Paul Hogan is to Australia-a proud native son.
