Capcom could announce new Versus game this year

If sales for Tatsunoko vs. Capcom do well, a new game may be annoucned.

Capcom is looking to announce a new Versus series game if upcoming Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars sells well enough in the US.

Producer of the upcoming game Ryoto Niitsuma has told Kotaku that this latest edition of the Versus series is looking to act as a revival or resurrection of the series. The game is the seventh in the series.

"I would love to do more versus series, more types of games like Marvel vs. Capcom 2," Niitsuma said. "There are all of these possibilities working with other companies, seeing what we could do with them. There are so many game companies I’d love to work with."

According to Niitsuma, the games in the Versus series are often brought about by fan requests.

"We get requests from fans to mix our characters with other video game characters all of the time," he said.

Niitsuma then went on to say that the company is still paying close attention to those requests.

"Based on those requests we might be able to do something with our characters and another company’s characters for a future game," Niitsuma said. "Keep your eyes open and your ears open for some kind of news in the future."

That is when he dropped the information on just how long in the future that may be.

"If sales are really good (for Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars) then you can see an announcement within this year," he said.

Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars comprises of popular characters from Capcom games and characters from Tatsunoko’s animated productions. The game releases January 26 for the Nintendo Wii.
