Catherine sells 200K in first week

Atlus’ unique relationship drama/puzzle game Catherine has been a surprise hit in the US, so much so that the company made a cake emphasizing said success. According to the baked good, the company has sold 200,000 units of the game.

An image of the cake appeared earlier today on Atlus USA’s Twitter account with the caption, "This #Catherine cake is rated M for mmmmmm!"

Yesterday the developer named Catherine its "largest launch ever", and now it is finally clear just how large that was. The numbers in addition to favorable critic scores seem to have proven that it was a good idea for the studio to release the game in North America after all, something that was uncertain and flat-out denied by Atlus until this past March.

Catherine is rated M for Mature and is available on both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
