Controversial Modern Warfare 3 scene leaks

Modern Warfare 3

A clip from Activision and Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has hit the Web from an anonymous post on YouTube that is sure to cause controversy, causing many people to deem this shocking scene the game’s “No Russian” moment.

The original Modern Warfare had US troops getting nuked in the Middle East, where Modern Warfare 2 had “No Russian”, the infamous airport scene where players played through a terrorist slaughter of innocent civilians.

Videos containing the scene are already being pulled from YouTube “due to a copyright claim from Activision Games.” The one we have provided below has not been pulled as of publishing time, but in case it does in the future, we have provided a description below.

For any who don’t wish to be spoiled on the events of Modern Warfare 3 and this scene, please don’t read any further. This is the first, last, and only warning.

The clip begins with a brief shot of what appears to be British Special Forces, one of which controlled by the player, as they are hunting down trucks. The soldiers are gathered in front of one that has been tipped over, but are demanding with a panicked urgency to their command where the location of the others are.

Players then find themselves behind a handheld camera, taking the role of a father on his family vacation to London with his wife and young daughter. The mother asks the daughter what they’re going to do for the day.

“We’re going to Big Ben!” the little girl exclaims, as the family is gathered just a few blocks from the towering clock and the Palace of Westminster.

The girl excitedly twirls and asks for her father’s attention as a truck with “Charity Worldwide” written on its side stops at the corner and two men run out of it in the background. Upon seeing a flock of what appear to be either pigeons or seagulls on said corner, the daughter is drawn to them and tries to draw the father’s attention to them.

“That’s your daughter,” says the mother in an amused response. “You know she gets that from y-“

An explosion from the truck cuts her off, killing both parents and their daughter. As the camera lies on the ground at a 90 degree angle, green smoke can be seen flowing freely from the truck onto the streets.

The scene fades to black and reopens on a news report stating that multiple locations in Europe have become the victim of chemical attacks; the scene players had just witnessed being one of them.

It doesn’t give the player complete control and have them mowing down innocents, but it is certainly designed to shock and enrage the player into taking down those responsible. It will very likely draw the attention of major media outlets like FOX News, CNN, and MSNBC.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is set to release November 8 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
