Crytek to unveil console version of CryEngine 2

CryEngine 2Crytek has announced that they will be showing off a cross-platform version of their CryEngine 2 at this year’s GDC.

The engine will be run on two demonstration consoles — a PS3 and an Xbox 360. Last year’s GDC saw the initial unveiling of the CryEngine 2 technology which was later used with Crysis. Crytek is currently taking appointments to see the console version of the engine.

There will also be public demonstrations showing how the engine, notorious for bringing even the toughest of systems to it’s knees, can be run on "a budget PC which can be put together for around 600 dollars complete, including keyboard and mouse." It will indeed be interesting to see what Crytek put together.

The company notes that anyone wishing to make an appointment for a cross platform demonstration can do so by emailing gdc2008@crytek.com with details of their own company, or by visiting the developer’s GDC show floor booth.
