Do Xbox 360s scratch game discs?

xbox 360 discsA class-action lawsuit has been filled against Microsoft over alleged allegations that the Xbox 360 scratches game discs. Filed in the U.S. District court in Florida, this suit follows the protests and angered faces from "thousands of people" who have been affected by this problem.

The suit is asking for $5 million in damages and the repair of the Xbox 360s that have been causing the problems.

Not only have people faced this in the U.S., but reports are coming in from around the world, including a TV report from the Netherlands a few months ago, which described this very same problem.

In response, Jack Evans, a Microsoft spokesman, said, "Out of the millions of Xbox consoles in use, Microsoft has not received any widespread reports of Xbox 360s scratching discs."

In addition, Microsoft offers a game disc replacement program — players can send the damaged disc and $20 back to Microsoft and receive a replacement.

Just a mere few days ago, Microsoft announced that they’re extending the Xbox 360 warranty to 3 years. While this will certainly put some smiles on gamers’ faces, it’ll hurt Microsoft’s wallet since it’ll cost them over $1 billion to roll out the new warranty service. Combine that with this lawsuit and Microsoft has to fork over quite a bit of cash to get themselves out of these messes.

So I’m asking you readers, have any of you experienced this problem?
