E3 '07: Sony reveals new sandbox title, "Infamous"

InfamousGuyAt yesterday’s press conference, Sony revealed a previously unannounced game from Sucker Punch, the studio behind the stellar Sly Cooper series. The game, titled Infamous, is a sandbox adventure where the player is endowed with various superpowers and must follow the path of either hero or anti-hero.

The world is an urban setting built with free-roaming action in mind, and the game looks to be sort of like a cross between City of Heroes and Crackdown.

It differs from previous Sucker punch offerings in that it is totally gritty and realistic, with high definition graphics and beautiful effects all over the place.

In the trailer, attendees bore witness to the main character using lightning-like powers, hurling cars like they were hot wheels’, and effortlessly scaling buildings – all of which followed the opening quote of, "Nearly all men can stand adversity. If you want to test a man’s character, give him power."

Looks like the game will focus heavily on moral decisions made by the player, a la Fable and the like. This game has quickly risen pretty high on my anticipated games list, because it looks awesome.
