E3 2013: Defend humanity and strike back in this Destiny gameplay trailer

Destiny E3

Bungie returned to the big stage of E3 this year with a gameplay trailer for its brand-new IP, Destiny. In it, players are tasked with keeping the last surviving city on Earth from destruction in this FPS and MMO hybrid.

Players, known in the game as Guardians, will also be given the task of reclaiming what was once a great human empire that spanned the solar system, taking them to locations such as the Moon, Mars, Venus, and even potentially Saturn and Jupiter.

In addition to several of these locations, the trailer displays cutscenes that will move the game’s story forward. Whether or not these will take place during quests or feature multiple characters at once is currently unknown.

There is also plenty of action here that was featured in Destiny‘s gameplay demo at Sony’s press conference earlier in the week as well as lots of looks at the game’s main antagonist force, The Fallen.

“The Fallen are a scourge, tirelessly engaged in war against us and scavenging all that remains,” reads the race’s description on Bungie.net. “They say their Houses have claimed every planet and moon we ever touched. If you see one in the wild, know there are many more nearby, and don’t hesitate to send their souls screaming into the black.”

Destiny is set to release for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
