EA–No anti-trust on Bioware/Pandemic purchase

Anti trustAntitrust regulators cleared Electronic Arts’ $775 million purchase of Bioware and Pandemic from Elevation Partners. This deal was included in The Associated Press’ report on the Federal Trade Commission regarding a list of transactions that were on "early termination" of their antitrust reviews.

Don’t worry, early termination just means that the review didn’t take the entire 30-day period mandated by antitrust laws.

Elevation Partners origninally acquired Bioware and Pandemic for $300 million in November of 2005, making this deal a $475 million dollar net profit over two years. Good deal if you ask me.

EA will pay stockholders $620 million in cash and distribute as much as $155 million in equity to company employees. The deal should close by January.

Oh big corporate, how you throw money around.
