EA Picks Up Spellforce Developer

According to a report in the German paper Die Welt, EA has acquired Spellforce developer Phenomic. Financial details weren’t disclosed, but Phenomic will retain its presence in Ingelheim, Germany and retain its management staff. The studio’s name will be changed to EA Phenomic. The paper also reports that with the acquisition, Phenomic named several new upcoming games, but no details were divulged.

Phenomic is the developer of Spellforce: The Order of Dawn (released in February 2004), its expansion, titled Spellforce: The Breath of Winter, and its sequel Spellforce 2: Shadow Wars . Since then, Phenomic was (and presumably still is) working on an expansion pack to Spellforce 2, titled Spellforce 2: Dragon Storm, which is expected to be released by the end of this year.
