Ebay Says 'No' to PS3 Scalpers–For Now.

eBay has seen the light and is shutting down the auctions for all PS3 presale orders. The decision was reached after the firm ruled that sellers did not really own the items they were trying to sell to potential buyers. Technically speaking, the sellers were selling PS3s based only on their purchase of presale tickets. Listings, which appeared only hours after the presale slips were sold, were immediately put up for purchase on eBay as fully equipped PS3s. According to many stores who offered these presale tickets, the ticket itself does not guarantee buyers a PS3.

PS3 listings now point towards a “this listing is unavailable” announcement. The going prices for the PS3s ranged from $1100 to over $1900 for the deluxe version of Sony,s next-gen game machine. Those wishing for an easy way to buy one of the rare PS3s may now have to resort to the tried and true method: standing in line with everyone else.
