ESRB educating consumers

In a press release dated May 31st, 2007, the ESRB has announced a partnership with Ingram Entertainment to distribute educational signage to retailers across the nation. The signs will display explanations of the ESRB rating system and will be delivered to 10,000 small and independent retailers.

esrbPatricia Vance, president of the ESRB had this to say about the initiative:

"Our partnership with national retail outlets continues to be strong, and with the help of Ingram Entertainment we’re helping smaller, independent retailers across the country inform their consumers about the rating system and support their store policies."

As for Ingram’s Senior VP, Bob Geistman:

"Indie retailers are a vibrant and significant part of the video game market.. Providing this signage to these thousands of stores will undoubtedly help foster that unique and personal relationship by enabling stores to offer their customers information that is vital to the way they buy and rent games."

I’m glad to see this happening. It only helps the video game industry’s cause when parents are let off lightly in favor of the easy target.
