Fender Stratocaster — the next guitar controller

The guitar controller first used for the Guitar Hero games is modeled after the legendary Gibson SG. The rock stars who have used this model reads like a Who’s Who of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. But there is also another guitar whose celebrity ranks even higher than the Gibson SG — the Fender Stratocaster. The next guitar controller will be a Stratocaster, not for Guitar Hero, but for Rock Band, a new music rhythm game being developed by Harmonix.

Harmonix President, Alex Rigopulos said, "The Stratocaster is arguably the most recognizable and iconic model of guitar in all of rock and roll, so it seemed like the natural choice. It’s also just a gorgeous instrument. Additionally, the folks at Fender immediately understood what we’re trying to accomplish with this game and were enthusiastic about partnering with us in the service of that vision."

Rigopulos described the Rock Band game as a "deep, complete solo experience." Rock Band offers interchangeability of different music gaming controllers so you’ll still be able to use your GH Gibson SG controller too.

Rock Band is scheduled for release on the Xbox 360 and PS3 and will hit store shelves at the tail end of this year.
