On the heels of yesterday’s news about the game’s title and features, Namco Bandai and From Software have released the first gameplay footage for Demon’s Souls sequel Dark Souls in the above announcement trailer.

The video gives us a glimpse of some of the game’s locales and enemies: we now know that we’ll be fighting, at minimum, rats, boars, demons, knights, ogres, dragons, spider-women, skeletons, and perhaps a giant raven in places like castles, dungeons, sewers, caves, and forests, and that at least two other players can act as blue phantoms to help us survive these threats.

We also know that the word "dark" has not been used in vain, because Dark Souls certainly looks to follow in Demon’s Souls‘ footsteps and provide a significantly gloomy, oppressive experience. Last, but not least… we now know, officially, that we’ll be doing it in 2011.
