Fox planning The Sims film

thesimsFox acquired the film rights to EA’s life simulation game The Sims, and has begun setting up a live-action film project with producer John Davis. In addition, writer Brian Lynch has been hired to pen a script and cast will be announced sometime in the future.

Rod Humble, Sims Studio Head, stated, "The SIMS has done an interactive version of an old story, which is what it’s like to have infinite power and how do you deal with it. Given that that’s an old story, you can imagine how easily that would translate to traditional story telling."

The Sims franchise has spawned a sequel, numerous expansion packs, and has sold over 85 million copies around the world making it the best selling PC franchise in gaming history. The latest expansion will be for The Sims 2 and it’s titled Bon Voyage. In addition, EA has announced that development on The Sims 3 is currently underway.
