Game Centers Raise Over $25,000 for Charity

The winners of the “Get-Well Gamers” charity ladder were announced today, which was hosted by iGames and NVIDIA and held from March 10th through April 30th at iGames and NVIDIA Game Center Alliance member centers across North America. While not the first gamer charity, the ladder is the first of its kind, benefiting the California-based Get-Well Gamers Foundation and bringing electronic entertainment to children in healthcare facilities.

Competition was fierce, as gamers across the continent reached into their hearts and their wallets to support this worthy cause. President of the Get-Well Gamers Foundation Ryan Sharpe said, "We have done fundraising campaigns before, but nothing of scope and magnitude, with such an overwhelmingly positive response."

Executive Director of iGames Mark Nielsen added, “We knew that our gamers have a strong sense of community and center loyalty, but we had no idea just how strong it was until we started seeing the preliminary numbers for the campaign.”

Centers participated in the charity by earning points for a number of activities related to the charity,s credo: donating used games and systems, making cash donations, posting the Get-Well Gamers banner on their company website, volunteering at local hospitals, and signing up new hospitals to the Get-Well Gamers Foundation,s network. In one month, the ladder campaign raised over $25,000 in cash and product donations.
