GameFly rates increase

gameflyAs a result of increased postal charges, and of course, the hike in video game prices, online game rental outlet GameFly has increased the cost of subscription to their service.

Before you get too upset, know that it is only a $1 increase. GameFly had this to say:

"…The May 14th postal rate hike on "flat" mailers, as well as the higher cost of new console games, has significantly increased our cost of doing business. In order to continue improving our service while facing higher external costs, we’re raising the monthly fee on all membership plans by $1.

All accounts billed on or after June 18, 2007 will be charged at the new rate. Since we opened our doors nearly five years ago, this is the first time we’ve ever raised the price of our most popular two-game plan."

Well, it seems nobody can fight rising costs. Gas, mail, etc. – they all go up.

cloudsBut there is a silver lining in the dark clouds of rate increaes for those who have stuck with GameFly through the years.

They are offering a 20% discount for the selected faithful. What this amounts to is a monthy rate that is actually lower than their present subscription rates. The catch? A one year committment to the GameFly service.

Better hurry though, the offer expires on June 18.
