GameStop testing new rewards card

GameStop

Most of you who have a subscription to GameInformer magazine probably signed up at GameStop. One of the benefits of subscribing is the EdgeCard, a discount card which provides 10% off on used games and adds a 10% bonus to trade-ins. Now, GameStop is rolling out a new card-based program called PowerUp Rewards. The new card will net you the same perks as before, in addition to new features like points for every purchase that can be cashed in for rewards. Two versions of the card are described on a promotional site: (1) a free membership to earn points, and (2) a paid membership that gets you GameInformer, the pre-owned game discount/trade-in bonus, and points.

According to the PowerUp website, buying new games will earn you 10 points per dollar spent, whereas buying used will increase the value to 20 points. Points can eventually be spent on a revolving list of prizes, including GameStop and iTunes gift certificates.

GameStop is currently testing the PowerUp Rewards card in Ohio, Tennessee, and Missouri. If you’re a reader in one of these areas, please let us know if you’ve heard about the card at your local store.

For a full description of the new program, check out the official website for details.
