Genetos lets you play through shmup history

When people say that the industry is lacking in innovation, all you need to tell them is to look at what’s going on in the indie scene. Here’s a video of an indie space shooter (shmup, for those of you cool kids out there) entitled Genetos, that allows players to basically play through the history of the genre.

Each level in the game is another generation in the evolution of shmups, beginning with a standard Space Invaders -type game, moving on to Galaga, and ending up with your chaotic Radiant Silvergun bullet hell formula. It’s a great idea, and seems like an awesome little game. Check it out:
