God of War III Coming?

There were eight God of War II kiosks at the E3 convention that offered attendees the opportunity to take a look at the newest installment of the hit God of War franchise. If the five-deep crowd at each of the game machines is any indication of how GoW 2 will do, it should be another crushing conquest for Kratos in game sales. The lead animator for the first GoW, Cory Barlog, gave a veiled hint that a third title in the series was being seriously considered. He made his comments to CVG and said, "I would love to see a trilogy happen. Dave [Jaffe] and I have a pretty similar view as to where the story of Kratos should go and it does play itself out in a trilogy."But as if to put on the brakes before anyone could run outside and say “God of War 3,” Barlog reigned in his statement and offered, "But there are no trilogy plans as of right now. We are telling the continuation of Kratos’ life as we left off from the first game. The story in God of War II will begin to show a larger view of Kratos’ role within the mythological world."David Jaffe, in exclusive comments made to GamerNode in November, said "We have a story which takes Kratos from early boyhood up to [about 60 years after the first GoW]. There are about eight games that we could make, but we’re going to wait and see if there’s a demand. Right now, it’s just one step at a time."The number of successful game sequels to hit games are sometimes few and far between. However, Dave Jaffe,s God of War has not only become a standard against which other adventure-action games are measured, he has also followed this up with a second game, that in all likelihood, will match or surpass his first offering. While it is still too early to say, the idea that a third in the series is music to GoW fan,s ears.
