Guild Wars 2 surpasses two million in sales

Players Gather in the Millions to Save Tyria.

ArenaNet and NCSoft have revealed that just two weeks after its launch, Guild Wars 2 has sold over two-million copies.

The number is certainly impressive considering that the last major MMO to hit the market, Star Wars: The Old Republic, peaked at 1.7 million subscribers. This is also considering that first-party sales were stalled and retail stores were not replenished for a short period after release so ArenaNet could “maintain an optimal player experience.”

“Reactions from around the world justified the time and care we put into developing Guild Wars 2 and making it into the game it is today,” said Mike O’Brien, president and co-founder of ArenaNet. “And this is only the beginning. We’re continually fine-tuning the game to deliver the polished experience that our players expect, and we’re already working on new adventures and experiences to introduce into this truly dynamic online world.”

Another number released was the game’s concurrency rate, which has regularly peaked at more than 400,000 players. The game has been receiving a positive reception from critics, with the GamerNode review still in progress.

Are you one of the two-million purchasers of Guild Wars 2? If so, what are you impressions of the game’s opening weeks? Let us know below!
