Halo 3 sold 5M copies, Mass Effect sold 1M copies

xbox360priceIn an interview with GameDaily, Jeff Bell, Microsoft’s corporate vice president, gave some responses regarding the sales of Halo 3 and Mass Effect, the success of the new Xbox 360 ad campaign and what’s in store for gamers in the impending future.

First, Bell revealed some excellent sales figures for two of Microsoft’s main power hitters: Halo 3 and Mass Effect, "We’ve also seen a strong response to both Halo 3 sales with more than 5 million, and Mass Effect which has sold more than a million copies in less than three weeks."

In addition, Microsoft is still riding on the Halo 3 wave since the response is still buzzing, even after three months of being on the market. Next week, Bungie will roll out the first round of downloadable content for Halo 3.

"The Halo 3 momentum is definitely still alive – the game has sold more than five million copies to date in less than three months since its launch, and next week we’re announcing the first release of new downloadable content for Halo 3 that will extend that experience even further."

The holiday season is crunch-time for game developers and it’s no surprise to see Microsoft bolster its holiday line-up with some tweaks to its advertising campaign. When asked about the response for Microsoft’s new Xbox 360 campaign, Bell said that the response has been positive.

"The reaction has been very positive. In fact, we saw incredible sales of Xbox 360 for the week of November 18, including Black Friday of more than 310,000 Xbox 360 in the U.S. alone. This is really strong momentum for us given that we’re already in our third year on the market."

Lastly, Bell put on his marketing hat and gave high hopes for the future of the Xbox 360. Along with strong debut sales of the Xbox 360 Arcade model, it looks like Microsoft is pulling out all the stops for this holiday season.

"This holiday we’re encouraging everyone, families and friends, to jump in and experience Xbox 360. With the broadest selection and best games, plus the enormous variety of entertainment content on Xbox Live Marketplace, we really believe our platform offers fun and entertainment for everyone in the family."
