HDMI ports coming for new 360 Premium models

360 hdmipotInitially hinted at yesterday, Microsoft confirmed today that all newly manufactured Xbox 360 premium consoles will include HDMI ports.

A Microsoft representative confirmed with Shacknews saying, "Yes, we are offering an HDMI port for Xbox 360 simply as another choice in Xbox 360 owners’ games and entertainment experience. Retailers are gradually introducing HDMI-enabled Xbox 360s into the channel to meet demand."

This, combined with the price cut to just $349, is now a good chance to scoop up the Premium package, if you don’t have it already.

Unfortunately, perspective Xbox 360 Core buyers will miss out on the included HDMI port since Microsoft isn’t planning to go that route, "We have not announced any plans to add HDMI to the Xbox 360 Core System." But Halo fans won’t miss out, since the upcoming Halo 3 Xbox 360 Special Edition console will include a HDMI port upon its release in September.

In yesterday’s story, we reported that Microsoft is planning other upgrades to the 360, for example a smaller processor. While the Microsoft representative said that Microsoft is continually upgrading the 360 hardware, no specifics were given, "We are constantly updating the console’s more than 1700 internal components and therefore will not comment on details of specific components or manufacturing processes."
