Is Bioshock going to the PS3 too?

BioshockAround this time next month, Xbox 360 and PC users will have explored the dark, art deco underwater city of Rapture in Irrational Game’s first title, Bioshock.

If you’ve read our coverage of the game, it’s clearly shaping up to be one of the defining titles of this generation, which likely saddens the bunch who won’t be able to experience it for themselves due to its exclusivity to Microsoft’s platform.

Or will they?

A little rumor that’s been floating around is that the game has been in development for Sony’s glossy box without the public’s knowledge, most likely due to the fact that the developer doesn’t want to commit to something that can’t be done.

Considering the game is running on Epic’s Unreal Engine 3, there would likely be some difficulty in bringing the game over to Sony’s console. Numerous developers have stated in the past that getting the engine to function properly on the hardware, so games utilizing it can run smoothly on the PS3,  just isn’t an easy task (such as Midway’s PS3 edition of Stranglehold, which has just been delayed likely due to such an issue).

In any case, GamerNode will keep its viewers up to date on the matter when more information is available.
