Koei restructuring to better serve global market

KoeiKoei, a publisher/developer that has historically been strongly focused on the Japanese videogame market, has announced that it will be restructuring in order to better serve western territories, as well as the east.

Naoki Katashima will be Koei’s new executive vice president of Koei UK, Koei France and Koei North America, and will act as general manager of Koei’s Global Business Division for North America and Europe. He will carry out his duties from Hertfordshire, UK.

Katashima had this to say about the restructuring:

"This new mid-term plan is a very significant development for Koei. The plan demonstrates our renewed commitment to our western businesses and the importance with which Koei views the markets outside of Japan. This plan establishes an entirely new division that unifies all of Koei’s western territories, and represents a substantial part of the company overall.

Now more than ever, Koei’s development studios, and sales and marketing teams around the world are working more closely together to develop remarkable entertainment experiences for videogamers across the globe."

Excellent. It’s always nice to see videogame companies branch out to better serve the global market. Does this mean we can expect more western-focused titles from Koei?  We shall see.
