Lots of games based upon movies and TV coming

saw3Hollywood and video games? Just hearing that combination brings tears of grief to the eyes of gamers, especially with the history of poor games tied in to their movie counterparts.

But according to Variety, the first sole video game/movie publisher, Brash Entertainment, will be out to change that. The publisher has raised over $400 million and it’ll be actively developing and publishing games based on movies, TV and music licenses.

So far, Brash has deals with five studios and over a dozen movie-based games in the works; including a game based on the Saw series and another based on the bloody action film 300. The first planned games will be out by this holiday season–expect a game tie-in to Saw 3.

flintstonesWarner Bros. will be distributing all of the new company’s games worldwide. Late last year, Warner Bros. revealed plans for at least 20 games based on their properties, which include major TV characters like Looney Tunes, The Flintstones and Tom & Jerry; so as part of this deal with Brash, maybe we can expect some of these Warner Bros. games too.

Brash also has over 40 games planned for future release and over 50 employees. Mitch Davis, one of the founders of Brash, stated, "It’s a slightly different risk profile. We may not have the breakout success of (hit original games) ‘Gears of War’ or ‘Halo,’ but we have a big ambition to produce high-quality, commercially successful games around licenses."
