"Major" Xbox announcement fizzles. Pac-Man is coming

pacmanWho loves big announcements? Next question, who loves hype? Well, despite the folks at Xbox 360 Fanboy getting a tad too jumpy over a planned major announcement for the Xbox 360, the so called "major announcement" boils down to this — good news for Pac-Man fans. NAMCO and Microsoft announced Pac-Man Championship Edition will make its way to the Xbox Live Arcade.

For the first time in 26 years, there will be brand-new Pac-Man mazes. New features include mazes that dynamically change shape through game play, six new timed game modes, new soundtracks and new high-definition graphics. It’ll cost 800 Microsoft points and also will include plenty of achievements.

So, should I light some torches and get the pitchforks and go after the ad guys who thought up this "major Xbox 360" announcement?

The problem with this sort of hype is what happens when Microsoft really does have a major announcement? Nobody will care or believe them. I guess they never heard of the story about the boy who cried "wolf."
