Now who didn’t see this coming? BioWare — now owned by multiplatform lovers Electronic Arts — has announced that the eagerly awaited (and already announced) Mass Effect 2 may only be a timed exclusive for the Xbox 360. Does that mean it will show up in the PlayStation catalogue? Maybe. (But most likely no.)
Speaking to ComputerAndVideoGames a BioWare representative said "I believe we’ll be Xbox 360 exclusive for at least a short period of time… I think you’ll see a PC version not too far away… We’re still working out the details on that, but we’ve had a great relationship with Microsoft and done very well."
Though the BioWare spokesperson only confirmed an eventual release on the PC, we both know it’s going to be everywhere. Unless Microsoft pays out big to keep the exclusivity on their platforms (Xbox and Games for Windows) I would not be surprised to see Mass Effect on the PlayStation 3 and a portable version on the DS.
I choose not to even think of how the game would play on a Motorola cell phone, but I’m sure that’s in the works too. After all, it is the EA way.
