Mass Effect 3 demo set to ruin relationships on Valentine’s Day

Imagine how bad it went between Ashley and Shepard in ME2, but worse.

Several relationships may go through some strains this Valentine’s Day, as BioWare has announced that the demo for Mass Effect 3 will be arriving for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC all on the day originally reserved for boxes of chocolate, flowers, and romantic nights out amongst couples.

The demo will feature the opening level on Earth that has been showcased at several conventions and trade shows since its first appearance at E3 2011. Also included will be Mass Effect 3‘s multiplayer co-op mode and Kinect functionality for those who download the Xbox 360 version.

“First, I apologize if any Valentine day plans are delayed, cancelled or relationship growth stunted due to the Mass Effect 3 demo release date,” said BioWare Online Manager Derek Lark. “You can always use the old ‘It’s not you it’s ME3‘ line and hope for the best.”

Mass Effect 3‘s Kinect functionality includes the ability to shout commands to Shepard and his squad as opposed to pausing the game and bringing up the traditional radial menus. In addition to the announcement, BioWare also released a video showcasing just how exactly this Kinect integration works, which can be seen below.

Set to release on March 6, Mass Effect 3 is Rated M for Mature and will arrive on the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.
