Mass Effect release pushed back until September

The highly anticipated game, Mass Effect for the Xbox 360, has been pushed back to a release date of September instead of the originally scheduled launch date of June/July.

While no real reasons were given as to why the title would be delayed, the September launch would also coincide with the release of another RPG title for the 360 — Blue Dragon — which proved itself to be a strong seller in Japan despite being a title for the Xbox 360.

The simultaneous release of two Xbox blockbuster titles in September will go head-to-head with some big PS3 titles scheduled for release during this time such as Ratchet and Clank, Killzone, Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, Lair, and Hellboy. If the delay of Mass Effect isn’t due to production problems, it maybe a strategic move by Microsoft to try to take away market share from Sony during this important time for PS3 releases.
