MGS4 for the Xbox 360 in the works?

mgs4Snake has appeared in a lot of places. From the jungle to Alaska, he’s always given it his all and makes it appear as if he is always at home.

Now, however, he may be given an assignment to sneak somewhere he’s believed to have been ordered off limits for years – the 360!

The rumor of Metal Gear Solid 4 being ported from the PS3 to the 360 has a long history–even before the game was released. In fact, Metal Gear Solid 3 was host to plenty of rumors claiming it would show up on the 360 eventually.

So far, these persistant rumors have had little to be based on. In fact, Hideo Kojima, mastermind behind the entire franchise, has stated repeatedly that these rumors are as trustworthy as Revolver Ocelot, and that under no circumstances would MGS4 appear on the 360.

Indeed, he has argued that it would be impossible, considering that the game was optimized for the PS3, utilizing the Blu-ray functionality to a "T".

This new rumor, however, does have at least a measure of credibility.

When discussing multiplatform trends in general, a Konami PR representative was quoted regarding MGS4:

"We’re actively looking into a release for the Xbox 360."

As this is coming from Konami itself, it makes the matter that much more credible. Nevertheless, this still flies in the face of Kojima’s repeated denials towards other port rumors.

This can lead to one of two outcomes–either MGS4 will be ported or it will not. And, quite honestly, what the PR representative said may have nothing to do with the decision. People have made mistakes when being interviewed before, and that one could be no different.

Still, it would be a dream come true for those who were roped into the series by the Xbox port of MGS2. But at this juncture, it is a bit perilous to raise our hopes just yet.
