The folks over at Microsoft have been busy improving the security of Xbox LIVE over the last couple of months. In a post on the Xbox Community Blog, Xbox LIVE General Manager Alex Garden explained that the company included a number of behind-the-scenes improvements in the Xbox LIVE Spring update that will set the stage for upcoming security enhancements.
Garden also mentions that the company has started sending unique codes to security phone numbers and secondary email accounts to verify authorization for Xbox.com purchases or account change attempts, if the request doesn’t come from a trusted device. Although this might seem like an extra step, it’s a welcome enhancement to anyone that has found Xbox LIVE Points fraudulently charged to their credit card or their gamertag hijacked.
The post also includes some basic “good hygiene” security tips, so you may want to take a minute to check it out.
