Microsoft: "Europe is our priority focus right now"

xbox360discIt looks like Microsoft’s push to market the Xbox 360 in Japan hasn’t paid off; therefore Microsoft is taking its losses and will move the marketing wagon to Europe, according to Bloomberg.

Despite cutting prices and increasing the number of game titles, the Xbox 360 still failed to reach marketing goals in the world’s second largest gaming country. For the past several months, the Nintendo Wii has been continually outselling the Xbox 360 in Japan; with the price cut for the PS3, Sony’s own PS3 has been outselling the Xbox 360 too.

Aaron Greenberg, Microsoft’s group product manager for Xbox 360, said, "The No. 1 objective is to win on a global basis and that may mean winning some markets and losing others. Europe is our priority focus right now."

So just what exactly is Microsoft planning for the European crowd? First, the video marketplace for Xbox Live will launch across Europe "soon", according to CVG. Also the European Xbox 360 HD-DVD drive’s price was cut, following the price cut of the U.S. equivalent.

With more to follow, I think the European crowd will definitely embrace the Xbox 360 more than Japan.
