Minecraft XBLA stacks up 3 million donwloads

There’s just no stopping Minecraft. The blocky build-a-thon has now surpassed the 3 million mark on Xbox LIVE Arcade, creator Notch announced via Twitter.

Minecraft on XBLA released back in May, and hit the magical 1 million mark within five days. At that point, Minecraft had already become the best-selling game on the XBLA platform, muscling out tough competition Trials Evolution and the long-standing Castle Crashers. Less than a month after release, Minecraft surpassed the two million mark. Now, at just over three months after release, it’s officially surpassed three million sales.

Notch took to Twitter to simply say, “I got told Minecraft for XBLA passed three million sales today!”

It seems that there’s just no slowing the juggernaut that is Minecraft, regardless of what platform it pops up on.
