The rights have been secured. New Line has signed a deal with Gears of War developer, Epic Games, to make a movie based off of the award-winning Xbox 360 game.
Lead designer Cliff Bleszinski (better known to gamers as CliffyB) is to act as the movie’s executive producer, and Stuart Beattie, the screenwriter of Collateral, will be penning the movie script. The film is to be produced by Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey of Temple Hill.
Epic has plenty of Gears backstory to go around, and is planning with New Line to release a video game sequel around the same time as the movie. When that time comes, gamers will surely be in for a treat.
