New Singstar for American Idol wannabes

singstarSingstar was released for the PS2 back in May ’04, but this time around the game will get the superstar treatment once it debuts on the PS3 because the game will feature a bunch of new feaatures that’ll enhance the karaoke experience for all of you wannabe American Idol singers.

Singstar will have its own built-in music library and online store to purchase new songs — sort of like iTunes. In total, over 350 songs will be available for purchase from big-named labels — downloading them to your PS3 will be a snap.

There’s no more waiting for a song to queue up since it’ll download in the background as you’re singing along to another tune. For you karaoke fans, there’s nothing that will kill your buzz more than waiting for a song to load.

Every song has an attached music video with the latest ones available in high-definition. And thanks to its compatibility with the eye-toy, you can adorn yourself on TV screen as you groove to the tunes. Each song download will clock in around 40MB, which by today’s broadband venue is nothing too difficult to do.

Singstar will also fully support interaction with the Singstar community. Nothing beats seeing other players make fools of themselves while singing to popular tunes, so you might as well join in! Fans embraced the original SingStar upon its release and submitted thousands of YouTube and Google Videos. With this type of loyalty, it looks like the community support won’t be at a loss.
