New Software Promises to Make PS3 Graphics Better

Before the PS3 was launched last year, Sony promised the gaming community fantastic and astounding graphics that couldn’t be found on any other game console. Four months after its debut, Sony continues in its efforts to make this a reality while the gaming community waits to see Sony make good on its word.

That reality took another step closer with an announcement made by Geometrics. The company has created software called "Enlighten" that will enhance the way lighting effects will work in real time. The program aims to provide a more realistic look to the games produced for the PS3.

Julian Davis, CTO of Geometrics, said, "We are delighted to have been given the opportunity to develop on the PS3. We believe that by harnessing the power of both the cell processor and the GPU our lighting technology will help to realize the full graphics capability of Sony’s console."

Although there is no indication of just how many game developers will incorporate the new Enlighten program into their games, this new technology will surely help Sony in its efforts to make good on its promise.
