New sports MMORPG on the move. Sports fans smile

empire of sportsWith World of Warcraft taking domain over the typical MMORPG format with lucrative results, few companies have decided to go up against the nine million strong mammoth. Competitors are looking into different areas, free ofWoW comparison, that will hopefully catch on and create a large audience.

Nothing is more evident of this than Empire of Sports; an MMORPG based on becoming an athletic superstar.

French developer F4 and Swiss developer Infront Sports & Media are hoping that this radical new take on the traditional MMORPG formula will bring in curious gamers and, as with any MMO that wants to survive, create a robust and competitive atmosphere which will keep Empire of Sports going for years to come.

The basic goal of the game is to become the best athlete in a certain sport. Better athletes gain sponsors, better skills, and most importantly, fans. For the launch of Empire of Sports, there is going to be only a handful of sports to master: basketball, skiing, track and field, tennis, and bobsleigh.

While not the most robust list of choices, F4 and Infront Sports & Media assure gamers that more ideas are on the way and that the more mainstream sports are going to be included as well.

"Soon after release, more sports will be added – I was told that there are many ‘more popular’ sports in the pipeline. From football to karate there are hundreds of different sports that could be added to the roster and F4 aren’t ruling out the inclusion of any sport."

Why they didn’t include, from the get-go, more popular sports such as baseball, football or soccer, is probably due to their goal of drawing a broader audience around the world. Let’s hope they get the additions out quickly so that their radical new take on this genre makes it to the finish line.
